Y7 students were asked to enter a competition back in the autumn term - they had to design a poster on seatbelt safety. Because the standard was so high it came as no surprise that Mohammed Ali 7EMD got 2nd place and Thusneem Rehman got 3rd place. The winning entry was Zaynab Daya from Dixons Allerton Academy. All winning students received vouchers and these were presented in assembly. The students' posters were then taken to Bulletpoint, a graphic designhouse where designers, with help from our students, improved and developed the posters for distribution thoughout the district in sports centres, libraries & schools promoting the importance of wearing a seatbelt. On Friday 14 May, Kath Tunstall, Director of Childrens Services and other important guests visited our school for a presentation on the development of the posters. All Y7 students enjoyed watching the powerpoint presentation that Zainab, Mohammed & Thusneem gave. Mrs Shoesmith, our Headteacher was very proud of the whole year. As a finale, the Fire Service demonstrated a extrication! 2 older students were placed in a scrapped car pretending that they had crashed and not wearing a seatbelt. The Fire Service then proceeded to cut them out of the car! It was very exciting! This event was brilliant! Well done Y7 - Mrs Karim & I are proud of all of you!
