|
Over the last three weeks a group of seven year 8 girls have been learning a dance for the Mela at Peel Park. Dance teachers from the Bradford Council group Dance for Life have taught them a Bollywood style dance to 'Jai ho' from the Slumdog Millionaire movie blockbuster.
Then the girls who are Shivani, Shantelle, Anisha, Laura, Shereen, Maryam, and Madeeha accompanied by Miss Brooks and Mrs Winslow set off to the Mela on Saturday 12th of June. They met up with the rest of the red team and practised the dance. We then had time to wonder around the Mela - looking at the Physics tent, a big heart, and another dance stage that had Bollywood style performances and music the girls knew. It was nearing 2pm and the big performance, the crowd gathered and the group got ready. All the spectators learnt the dance too. A couple of run throughs were really enjoyed by all. We even appeared on the big screen. After the performance we visited the fair ground and had a go on the waltzers...very bad idea. Well done to the girls for taking part and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.
